KHUMI tribe live mostly in Paletwa(Palang Vum) township of Chin state, Northern Rakhaine state of Burma and Chittagong hills. Khumi means 'man' in Khumi language. They belong to Chin Kuki group.

The main festivals of Khumi are: Chu touk poi (sowing festival), chu aw poi, (harvest time), and chu powl poi (carrying paddy festivals). The Khumi festivals possess religious character, agriculture oriented and ultimately intertwined with their way of life. They celebrated their festivals with a lot of enthusiam and dancing and drinking from a celebration. The joy of life was sustained by the successive festivals among the Khumi festivals in every program.
